Worship isn’t just a music genre.
▫️▫️▫️
If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know that this is a topic I’m really passionate about — and yesterday +today I’m feeling it so strongly. The way we approach worship is equally the way we approach God. And that approach is pretty important to him. The Bible is full of examples of people who approached God in casual disrespect and he actually did not accept their worship. So we need to understand a few things about worship and the importance of what we do in worship:

The time of singing in church prior to the sermon is NOT worship in and of itself.
▫️▫️▫️
The whole event of “church” is worship: gathering together to praise the King of Kings, the sermon which expounds on the revelation of God’s word, the response of the people TO that word, and being sent out to fulfill the great commission.
▫️▫️▫️
That entire process is worship — it is, in fact, the four-fold order of worship.
▫️▫️▫️
Worship leaders, the phrases you use to describe your role and what you do in church is important. Know your terminology. Be thoughtful and intentional in your ministry pursuits. Be careful who you listen to. Be especially wary of pop worship culture and its attempts to become so culturally relevant that it ceases to be countercultural.

Worship isn’t a by-product of Christianity: it was the entire purpose for which humanity was created.
▫️▫️▫️
Therefore, we need to stop relegating worship to 30 minutes of music on a Sunday because it is so much more than that. ⛪️🎶🖤
