Weirdest but also the most powerful festival / ceremony I have ever encountered: Masi Magam. To demonstrate their gratefulness to the gods the participants put hooks in their back and pull (with help) the carriage for about 10km to reach the temple where they are cheered to and blessed. And I think they feel possessed to as they pull funny looking faces. At least we had free food from the temple 🥢🥳.

A life on the chain
There is one thing in the world that makes me really angry and that is how we treat animals. It shows to me how stupid, cruel and ignorant humanity really is. I don’t want to make any differences but specially how some people treat dogs pisses me off to the fullest. There are such unconditionally loving and loyal creatures that should be treated equally.

The dog in the picture is an old lady that her good days in the past. She’s too old now to go hunting or help with the daily farm work so in her owners eyes she doesn’t have a purpose anymore. All she does now is slowly vegetate until she dies - most likely chained to the place she’s used for so many years. Is it just me or can you also see the pain in her eyes? It took me couple of days until she trusted me but in the end it was worth it. To see her wiggling her tail when I did my daily busted was heartwarming. ——————————————————————————
Overall, what the farm dogs have to experience in Australia is not as heartbreaking as what I saw when I traveled through India. Still I personally think the western influenced people of Australia should know a bit better. ——————————————————————————
I recently turned 29 and one big goal I set was to own a dog before I turn 30. I always wanted a dog, a real best friend, a soulmate but my life didn’t let me have one, at least that’s what I thought back then. To busy studying, working and now I am traveling which makes it’s hard but not impossible.

All i know when the times come I will love him unconditionally and appreciate every single moment with him. Until then all i can do is to be grateful for every lovely dog that crosses my path and brights up my day!

The terraced rice fields of Bali are well-known. Indeed effect the countless shades of green calmingly on our souls, slow down our steps while walking through the fields. Smilingly we follow the clumsy bearing of the ducks. We need nothing more to breathe deeply and let go of our thoughts.
Which makes us feel even more irritated as the tourist accommodations come up repeatedly amidst the fields. Sales approaches of the inhabitants as well as the taking over of scooters increase on the simple footpath.
Nature and initial way of living mutate into a tourist attraction and thereby loose their appeal.
Mentally wrenched back into the world of consumption-traveling we still eventually access one of the Cafés with a big roofed terrace and an open view on the rice fields.
We are the only guests. While we hold the coffee cups in hands, we draw our attention away from the surrounding buildings, towards the wide green acres. Wind comes up. It stripes over our necks and shoulders, brings this special tranquility with it. We hear nothing but it´s wooshing. It fills the open space of the room up to the high ceiling and at the same time spreads out to cover the rice plants. We remain in silence, listen and view. All of a sudden things resign back to a natural harmony.
